Welcome to A Soul Searching. I’m a pretty typical suburbanite yuppie living in the Mid West. I was raised Catholic, but found that it really wasn’t helping me develop my spirituality or relationship with God. Mostly it made me feel guilty about things in general. It also seems to put a premium on suffering, which baffled me once I started to think about it. Between the guilt and suffering, I figured I was better without either of them so I bailed.
I’ve been religionless for about the last ten years. That is not to say I completely excluded God or religion from my life. On the contrary I have spent a lot of time looking into different religions and spiritual practices and philosophies trying to find something that would work for me. I’ve come to the conclusion that there isn’t anything out there that completely resonates with my interpretation of God and religion.
This blog is an online journal of my search for a belief system.
That’s very similar to what my blog is about- trying to figure out what I really do believe.
It’s good to know that there are other people out there with similar dilemmas.
