I don;t really hold Ayn Rand in very high esteem, and I consider her thought to be more pseudophilosophy than anything else.

But I've been considering Asatru for a long time. Maybe I shouldn't have been? I don't know. I'm more interested in Asatru because it resonates with my identity as a Northern European man than because of a specific philosophy that it comprises.

A soul searching-

Have you ever investigated the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? We believe in direct revelation from God to man. I have personally found many answers to my prayers through spiritual revelation and would suggest saying a prayer to see if you should search it out. Listen to your heart and good luck searching.

Jeff - I have been dabbling with meditation and have considered trying Erin's meditation technique. To be honest, the prospect is a little frightening because I don't know what I'll find. I'll try giving it a try this weekend though and let you know how it goes.

Torilink - I haven't read the book you mentioned, but will look it up on Amazon. I've considered looking into a Unity church but have not yet done so. Perhaps I should check into the possibility again.

Hi Soul Searching, thanks for your kind words.

I have found that the most valuable tool for my own religious development has been meditation, particularly visualization meditations. Have you tried Erin Pavlina's "Go To Your Room" meditation? It's been a godsend for me. (My apologies -- pun not intended...) You can call for guidance and get it. My experience has been that there are entities -- spirit guides, gods, angels, archetypes in the subconscious, call them what you want -- who are eager to help you set up the direct connection to Spirit that you're looking for.

Erin's meditaiton is not for everyone -- not everyone is visually-oriented enough for it to go smoothly -- but variations on the theme can work, too.

Have you read 'A Course In Miracles'?

There probably wouldn't be much in the way of community, unless you live in a large Metro area with a Unity Church or something, but if you are looking for true inner work & discovery, I'd recommend it.
